Continue along the Rhine to Düsseldorf, a vibrant center of German culture, commerce, and modern architecture. Join a guided walking tour through the historic core, concluding with a tasting of Altbier, the city’s traditional dark beer. If you’re feeling adventurous, an optional excursion to nearby Cologne offers a guided walk through the Old Town.

Cruise through the UNESCO-designated Rhine Gorge, one of the most beautiful stretches of the river, famous for its high concentration of castles & the Legendary Lorelei Rock. In the afternoon, dock in Mainz for a walking tour including a visit to the Gutenberg Museum.

Arrive in Ludwigshafen. Visit Heidelberg to explore its red-sandstone castle, the Great Vat, and the beautifully preserved Old Town along the Neckar River. For a more active option, an optional guided hike along the Philosopher’s Path offers sweeping views over the city. Alternatively, travel to Speyer for a tour of the Technik Museum.

Arrive in Strasbourg, a city shaped by both French and German traditions. Explore the storybook streets of La Petite France and stroll past the soaring Cathédrale de Notre-Dame with its famous astronomical clock. For a more active option, you may choose an optional guided bike ride through the city and Parc de l’Orangerie.

Arrive in Breisach, your gateway to a variety of excursions in the Upper Rhine region. One optional excursion is to visit the Alsatian town of Colmar, where colorful half-timbered houses and canals create a setting that feels unchanged since the 16th century. On your walking tour, admire historic architecture and a small Statue of Liberty honoring the sculptor’s birthplace. Alternative excursions available.
